ActiveMedia (2005)

ClearStory Systems produces two Web applications: A digital asset management tool (ActiveMedia), and an administrative application for it.

InterfaceThis provided interaction design expertise for both products, focusing largely on screen layout and look & feel, as well as more fundamental workflow questions for the administrative application. Although ActiveMedia was fairly late into development when we were brought in, we were able to improve usability through better use of space and a new look & feel using CSS layout techniques. The administrative application was earlier in its development. After several design discussions, we produced and finalized mockups and workflow diagrams, then helped ClearStory implement the new design using CSS and JSP.

Created both mockups and production DHTML/JavaScript using Adobe GoLive, PHP, XML, and XSLT. Created buttons, icons, and graphical elements using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator. Wrote and maintained a user interface specification. Worked with developers to move pages into production quickly. Took advantage of modern CSS layout techniques to provide an interactive, cutting-edge user interface, as well as to streamline the process of deployment and revision with CSS-only updates to the layout and look & feel.
